Devotions to Hermes

I've been going through a transformation for the past two years. I gave up alcohol and a year ago I gave up soda. Since July I have been working out religiously. Lost sixty pounds and I Am at 18.7 percent body fat. I dedicated myself to Hermes as he is the god of fitness. Every workout is a devotion to Hermes. My body is my altar or temple to him. 

My Vows to my wife

My wife and I are renewing our wedding vows during a handfasting ceremony in Oakhurst, Ca this Saturday June 25, 2011. I wrote my vows using Astrological, Planetary and Element attributes. I must say it worked out better than I thought.

My lovely Dove, we come together today one year after you made me so happy when you agreed to marry me again. Twenty years ago, we started a journey. Twenty years later, we begin a new chapter in front of family friends and nature.
My love, I promise to share new adventures with you, to continue working to make our house a home. I will compliment you by working on my communication. I shall always and forever be there for you for your needs. When you are cold, I shall be there to warm you on cold days and nights. I will try and keep myself organized when dealing with problems. I will share my experiences with you to balance myself and become a better person for you. I will satisfy your every desire. Together we will fulfill our visions of what we want in life together and travel side by side as we grow older. I vow to continue to build our life together, to learn from you as you have taught me so much about love. I will have the dedication and faith that our love will grow stronger everyday and I will continue to love you unconditionally.

I vow to make you happy as you have made me and to have fun ans share with you the abundance of my love for you.
During hard times, I shall be there for you, to be your rock and your knight in shining armor to keep you safe. I will shine brightly as the sun fro. The love that is ours. I will make love to the goddess that you are ans bask in the warm glow of your beauty. I will continue to open up my communication by talking with you, to make you laugh and keep you on your toes. I will share every part of me as it is yours, my soul, my personality, my heart and body.

From all new beginnings of our journeys together to the completions, when we look back we will laugh and say we did it together.

A funny thing happened on the way to the initiation.

I went through an initiation into the grade of water. It went very smooth. A funny thing happened during my initiation. It began raining during setup and well after my initiation into the water grade. Changes have already been happening.

The Tree of Life Ritual

Tonight I performed the ToL ritual. It involved focus, breathing techniques and visualization. Much like the Middle Pillar the ToL uses the three pillars.
The ritual went well until I reached Hod. Hod was especially difficult to perform. I should also note that I recently been initiated in the grade that involves Hod. It let's me know where I need to work. To focus my energy. I was impressed. I will definitely do it again.

The Golden Dawn: The work and the fruit (A Review)

Today I attended a presentation of the Golden Dawn presented by Robert Hagar.

Robert Hagar is the chief of the Bennu-Wadjet Lodge in Formation in Bakersfield, California. He started his path in occult study in the 80's when he walked into a B-Dalton bookstore and discovered The Golden Dawn by Israel Regardie. He was a member of now defunct Bennu-Kheper Lodge where he served the office of Premonstrator.

The presentation began with a history of the Golden Dawn followed by a journey of a Fool named Fred. The Journey took Fred through the application process through adept.

Robert spoke of what the Golden Dawn is to accomplish for the student. The final portion of the presentation involved how modern Neo-Paganism borrowed from the Golden Dawn system. To show that Golden Dawn Occults are not a bunch of pompous elitists complaining that everyone takes their stuff, Robert showed that the Golden Dawn also borrowed from Egyptian and Jewish mysticism along with other occultist's work.

The talk was well presented and very informative overview of The Golden Dawn system of Magick. The material presented had the potential to be dry and go over one's head. Robert's presentation style made the class enjoyable and easy to find the gems of knowledge. Robert Hagar is definitely someone to watch for in the occult scene. I highly recomend The Golden Dawn: the work and the fruit, to anyone interested in or curious about The Golden Dawn system of Magick.

A Psychic Faire in February.

So I attended a psychic faire at the Enchanted Cottage earlier this month. I read Runes again. My buddy Robert read Tarot next door in my canopy. I had quite a few clients come in. The questions ranged from relationships to career. To be quite honest I was on top form. I used a three rune spread for the majority of the readings. In a few of the readings I pulled other runes if I had a question on a perticular to find the root of the first rune in relation of the question. Being Valentine's month I used a special heart shaped spread split for the couple for relationship questions. It worked beautifully. I'm going to use it in future readings.

I plan on working on my Geomancy skills to present it at psychic faires.

PantheaCon

Its finally coming up! The greatest indoor pagan convention on the west coast and probably the nation. It will take place Presidents Day weekend. The web site www.pantheacon.com has the program schedule uploaded as of today. I will be blogging on the events, classes and off schedule stuff. A concert worth going to part two.

As I had posted back in September of last year, I attended a concert by Wendy Rule. To say the least, I was blown away. I also posted that she might be coming back to the United States for the upcoming PantheaCon in February.
We emailed each other last night and she said she will be at PantheaCon this year. In fact, her concert will be on Saturday night at 7:00 PM, February 19th. If you haven't seen her concert, you have got to go. You will not be disappointed. I can't wait.

Theory on Divination

My wife and I recently celebrated our twentieth wedding anniversary. Its a monumental occasion. We decided a couple of months ago to celebrate it at the beach. Cambria, California to be exact. The plan was for me to work until midnight, the wife and kids pack up and be ready when I get home then we drive that night so we will be at the beach and ready to celebrate our anniversary the next day. Sounds like a plan huh? We thought so too. What the hell does this have to do with Divination you ask? Stay with me, I'm getting to it.

I got home two hours early to get a jump on the trip. So far so good. Then it starts. My wife and I then get into an argument the day before our anniversary and a bad one too. We get to the point that we say we shouldn't go. Then we get over ourselves and get back into the groove to going on the trip. We get packed up and pile into the truck. We drive over to the nearest gas station and fill up. Then nothing. The truck is dead. Did I mention it was raining? Yeah, raining a lot. All day and night. So much its making me have a dreadful feeling about driving in the middle of the night in the rain on the dreaded Hwy 46 AKA Blood Alley. So, its raining and the truck won't start. I decide to bite the bullet and walk ten blocks back to the house in the middle of the night, in the rain. I'm walking home, get the van and drive it back to the gas station where my family is waiting for me at the closed store. I jump the truck battery which starts right away. We drive home and decide wait till sunlight to drive to the beach. While in bed, my wife tells me that she has been having bad feelings about trip too. Red flags about the trip huh? So my wife asks me to pull out my Runes and do a Divination for her about the beach trip. She doesn't tell me what her questions are as I pull the Runes out of the back. I just interpret the Runes and she tells me after what her question was. Anyhoo, all of the answers were negative that we shouldn't go to the beach. When asked why, the answer was that of a female energy source. We took it as to the Goddess. So, we decided to not go to the beach. Funny how the universe has a way of putting blocks when you are not meant to do something. The next morning, was a bit sad. Our twenty year anniversary was upon us and we wern't doing anything. I tell my wife if we are not going to the beach then why don't we go somewhere else like Hollywood. We did another Divination with the Runes and this time its all positive. Off we went and had the time of our lives. Here's to another twenty years together.

What did that have to do my theory on Divination? I did have a point in there somewhere. My point was when someone does a Divination or has someone does a Divination for them, They are tapping into their concience and unconcience mind either by themselves or by using a vessel (the reader). In doing a Divination, when the quierent has a question in mind, they also know the answer to their question. They just haven't tapped into the answer yet and needed the Divination to bring it out. Also the quierent uses a focused thought to help choose the particular card, rune etc. It is even more amazing when a reader is in the zone in fact is in the zone with the quierent working together to form a Magickal Mind Link (MML) to do the reading. The reader is the vessel in which the quierent is actually doing the reading through the reader's abilities.

The opposite applies too. I posted earlier about a lady I did a reading for during a psychic faire in which the lady completely walled up and was difficult to do a reading for. The lady had a focused thought to have a reading and completely wall up to make it difficult for the readers. She did a great job.

My theory is simply the quierent plays a very important part in that they provide the focused thought to the reading and that the quierent knows more about the answer to the question than they realize.

A good friend of mine once said...Imagine what you can do with a focused thought- Lon Milo Duquette.

Yule!

Tonight we had our Yule ritual. We started with a gathering of friends for a very well prepared and fun dinner. It was a great start to the evening with lots of conversation and laughter.

After dinner we went to the living room and began our ritual. Ravengrove Coven led the ritual. The Yule log was filled with hopes and dreams for the upcoming new year. We had a small meditation with candle work. We did a banishing using a besom along with salt and peppermint. A friend and I did a reenactment of the battle between the Holly and Oak Kings using plastic knives.
Its been a long time since my wife and I have hosted a ritual at our home. We had a great time and I expect more to follow. The most important part of having celebration ritual is to have fun and enjoy the Sabbot. That is true magick.

Not much going on here today Pt 2

I decided to take the trip to Texas and see my dad in the hospital after his surgery. It was determined he had a clot in his brain and was bleeding. The doctors said they needed to operate to remove the clot and stop the bleeding. The operation lasted for about an hour and a half while I was on a flight to texas to see him. The operation was a sucess and on the road to recovery. When I arrived, I saw him and though he was sleeping semi-concious, he recognized me and called out to me. Most of what he said I couldn't understand. We just enjoyed the time together.
My time with him passed and he was getting better. I returned home and enjoyed time with my family by going to Disneyland for Thanksgiving. The next day I received a call that my father took a turn for the worst. He was unresponsive, had a high fever and the doctors were unsure as to why. I then received a call that my father did not show any brain activity and was placed on a ventilator to keep him alive. It turns out he survived the stroke however he contracted E coli while in the hospital. His body quickly deteriorated and my family decided to remove him from the ventilator. My father's body lived for another thirty minutes after being removed from the ventilator. He passed away November 30th 2010.
I'm glad I was able to see him before he died as he was able to recognize me and communicate to a degree. I didn't go back when he no longer had brain activity as I believed he had already passed and his body was being kept alive artificially. My wife and I flew back to Texas to attend his funeral. My dad was buried on December 4,2010 which was his 29th wedding anniversary to my mom. That date was not our choice. Sometimes the universe has a way of making things happen full circle.

Not much going on here today.

Its not very fun when you find out your parent is sick, very sick.

Six months ago my dad came down to visit and had to tell me what to expect when I get older like he was on a time table and was on a quest to get it done. He also seemed to be talking about his own mortality. It seemed odd to me at the time which I had to ask him if he was sick and wasn't telling me. He assured me at the time he was fine.

Six months later he's in intensive care and had suffered another stroke. Family are starting to gather fearing the worst.

I can't get rid of this feeling that if I go, it will complete the circle and he will decide to let go.

Testing and Tools!

I'm going full tilt into studying my grade material. I hope to test early next month. I've also been working feverishly making Magickal tools in my grade. My good friend and brother Jeremy said I learned a great secret in the occult that when making Magickal tools, you discover much more about the tool than when you started. It like you get an illuminated moment or moments. I'm going to slow down on tool making and concentrate more on studying until my test is done.

The Universe in the palm of your hand

The solid greek cubical cross. Its a project I've been working on for a few days now. While thinking about starting the project it came to me that it represents the microcosmic symbol of the universe. It is compressed. It is in everything like the atom. It contains the elements, the ancient planets and the astrological signs. It also contains the alchemical signs to boot! All this in the palm of your hand. Quite a thought.

Making Magick

The last few months have been very fruitful for me in terms of creating magick (Magickal tools). A good friend and I have combined our energy and resourses to get off our butts and creating tools as well as a full GD temple. The fire burns bright as we work on the work. Seeing the progress motivates me to do more. What was that first spark of motivation? Was it a result of someone else's changes? Perhaps, regardless of who caused the spark, that spark started a fire of creation here in Bako.

My personal temple tools: a work in progress.

Who would have thought making a set of GD temple tools would be so time consuming and difficult. As you can see by the photographs, I completed a double cubical altar which was both expensive and difficult to construct. It also too about twelve hours to complete.

My current project is to complete the GD cross and triangle. I completed the cutting process today which by the way, I never thought I would use geometry again. I still have to sand, shape and paint the cross and triangle. Like I said it is a work in progress. I'll post another blog when I complete the latest project.

Psyhic Faires, Troubled Quirents and Scam Artists Oh My!

Last Saturday I participated in a Psychic Faire as one of several readers that went from eleven in the morning until five that afternoon. I am very competent in reading Runes. I shared an out door canopy tent with my good buddy and brother, Robert.

The day started fairly busy and tapered off during the course of the day. The clients who arrived seemed very nice and had some interesting questions about love, career and mortality? Yes, mortality. The mortality question came from an older woman who sat down at my table and appeared very nervous, ridged and a bit walled shut. I explained the system of runes which she appeared to be impatient with my explanation. So, with that I jumped right into her reading. I did what I called a blind reading which I give the option of the client to keep their question to themselves and not tell me the question.

As I was explaining the reading, this woman never looked down at the runes but only looked at me. She looked as if she was trying to keep any type of emotion or hint of giving something away to me. I try not to use their facial expressions during my readings. She on the other hand gave a facial expression that was hard to miss.

When my reading was over I asked this woman if the reading made any sense to her. She said to my suprise that the reading made no sense whatsoever and was so far away from her question. I asked her what her question was so I could maybe see where the confusion was. She told me her question which delt with mortality of a family member and how her family would deal with it. I looked down at the reading. I studied the layout of the runes and it made perfect sense. I explained the reading rune by rune according to her questions. She the left with I hoped a sense of getting a good reading from me.


The woman later visited my good brother Robert who had similar trouble with her. I later heard that other readers were having similar problems reading for this woman. It had gotten so bad that some of the readers had refunded her money back and one reader stopped the reading ten minutes into the reading.

At the end of the day we discussed how this woman appeared to be walled up and was difficult to read for. We were told by another reader that this woman had Brujah energy which is Witch in spanish probably of a Santaria type of craft. The owner of the business also told us that this woman frequently denies anything that is read for her.

It was later on that it hit me about this woman. This woman had a way of sampling the different varieties of reader with spending minimal amount of money. This woman was able to question the reader and then proceed to wall up and enjoy the information the reader was providing. At the end of the reading the woman denied the validity of the reading and got her money back. She then would continue on to another reader. Quite a scam if I say so myself. I"m not saying this woman was a bad person. She just had a way of using a skill she had and used it to her advantage.

All in all I had a blast. I hope to be invited again to read at another faire.

A concert worth going to.

I recently attended a Wendy Rule concert in Pasadena California. I have heard some of her music on the Pagan Radio Network. Wendy Rule is an Austrailian Pagan singer and was on a US cross country tour. The concert we attended was her last US concert for the year. She opened her show by casting a circle. Her songs were amazing and her voice was haunting. I was stunned by her talent. She is that good. She is also very personable in that she seems to truly care what people think. I ended up buying a lot of her music cds that night. If you get the chance, go see her. You wont be disappointed. Oh, she might come back to the States for a possible gig at the upcoming PantheaCon. Don't let her pass you by.

Conversing with angels

Well, the other day.....(I say the other day because I can't remember what day it was), I was doing my daily rituals consisting of the LBRP, BRH and MP. In additition of my daily rituals I performed the LIRP to meditate with an archangel on my current path and direction. I based my questions from the recent tattwas work. I feel that I must keep the name of the archangel private as I feel it is personal information that is not needed here. Anyhoo, while meditating I did not get anything, absolutely nothing. So I closed up my ritual and it was the end or so I thought. A couple of days ago, I read Fr POS' blog on thought forms. It was inspiring, it was great, it was what I needed to be reminded of. Then it hit me. I recently did a LIRP and although the archangel did not come to me in my meditation, he came to me through another. It seemed very odd to me that another person would be inspired to write a blog on the very thing that I needed to work on. Very cool indeed.

Today, I was performing my daily rituals ( instead of using the initials every time I say daily rituals, we will just assume them when I say daily rituals) along with the LIRP. During my meditation with the archangel, I asked about my role in the lodge I belong to. I saw a Pyramid among the clouds or was it smoke? The Pyramid had a bright beacon at the top shining brightly piercing the obstruction. The Pyramid was gray in color. It wasn't the first time I had seen a Pyramid in a meditation. A few months back I was meditating with another archangel, I had gotten a black Pyramid with a bright beacon on top. I still have yet to determine why I received a Pyramid and what it means.

Tattwas work Pt 4

After performing my daily rituals, I did my third and final tattwas work for the week. I used the earth tattwa tile again. I felt confident with my vibration of the proper names for the element.

During my journey, I met up with a odd figure that I could only describe as a gnome. The travelocity gnome had nothing on this one. Anyhoo, I greeting the (we'll call it gnome) gnome and we walked through the grassy meadow together. We didn't speak very much. We came to a dirt road as far as the eye can see. I said that the road was long. The gnome said that the road is a long one but rewarding.

I began to think to myself was this only in my head? Was I doubting being in the earth plane? The scene changed to a steep narrow cliff and I was walking to the end of the cliff with the gnome. Looking out past the cliff the sky was of flashing colors mainly of green, gray, and brown. The gnome said...you must have faith. I thanked the gnome and left the scene. I exited and banished.

Very different experience from yesterday.
